British Car Auctions (BCA) has published a guide for consumers who may wish to buy their next car at auction.

In a press release, BCA outlined the importance of research, patience, vehicle examination, budgeting, flexibility, clarity and the correct vehicle documentation for the individual customer when purchasing a car at one of its sales.

Comparing auctions to a "stock market" for used cars, Tim Naylor, spokesperson for BCA, said the experience could be "daunting" for newcomers but individuals could find a deal.

BCA sales are open to all-comers and the company provides online guides for free to those registered with the remarketer.

The company also began buyer stock funding in June, lending its own money to finance purchases, although little further detail has been published.
