TOYOTA FINANCIAL SERVICES
UK

The post of managing director at
Toyota Financial Services (TFS) UK plc has been filled, with Doug
Gillies, former operations director at the captive, stepping into
the role vacated by David Betteley upon his retirement in
October.

Gillies, who took up the post as
of November 1, has a long history at the captive, having first
joined when it was still a joint venture between Toyota Finance and
Lloyds Bowmaker; he was part of the original Toyota Financial
Services team when the captive was set up in 1998.

BRITISH CREDIT
TRUST

The CEO of British Credit Trust
(BCT), John Sinclair, is to step down in the near future, due to
“irreconcilable differences” with CitiCapital Group regarding the
non-prime lender’s future direction and strategy.

The interim CEO at BCT is Andrew
Lee. A chartered accountant at Arthur Andersen, Lee was part of a
team hired to help turn around a Manchester-based asset finance
business; this achieved, the business was sold to Alliance &
Leicester with Lee staying on as deputy group CEO. He then joined
A&L as director of group financial planning and control. He
moved to Lloyds Corporate Bank, where he was CFO, and director of
its corporate markets business. Lee worked on the Lloyds/HBOS
merger before leaving to join BCT as finance director in August
2009.

KINGSLEY FINANCIAL

George Grant, former head of
dealer finance at Bank of Scotland, has taken up the role of
managing director at Kingsley Financial Ltd. Before joining Bank of
Scotland as head of vehicle finance in 1997, becoming head of
dealer finance in 2006, he was general manager of Freeway Ltd, a
PCP business, and MD of finance brokerage Grant Leasing.

ACEA

Dieter Zetsche, chairman of the
board of Daimler AG and head of Mercedes-Benz’s cars division, has
been named the new president of ACEA, the European Automobile
Manufacturers’ Association. He takes over from Carlos Ghosn,
chairman and CEO of Renault, on 1 January 2010.

FINANCE & LEASING
ASSOCIATION

Philip Ross has taken over the
chairman’s role of the Finance & Leasing Association’s Motor
Finance division, following the departure of former chairman John
Sinclair from British Credit Trust (see left). Ross is head of
Honda Finance, and has worked in the motor finance for almost 30
years.

AUTOQUAKE/MOTORS.CO.UK

Dermot Halpin, former president of
Expedia Europe, has joined Autoquake as the online car retailer’s
new CEO, replacing Garry Hobson, who is leaving the company to join
Motors.co.uk. Halpin spent seven years at Expedia, starting as
operations director.

THE WARRANTY GROUP

Serkan Obuz has joined The
Warranty Group as head of training for Europe. He will take
responsibility for all the insurance provider’s dealer training
programmes, among other initiatives, the group said. Obuz joined
TWG five years ago.

GENERAL MOTORS

Fritz Henderson, the beleaguered
CEO of General Motors, has resigned, and has been replaced by
chairman Edward Whitacre.

PORSCHE SE

Martin Winterkorn and Hans-Dieter
Pötsch have joined the board of Porsche Automobil Holding SE.
Winterkorn is the chairman and Pötsch the finance director of
Volkswagen AG. Winterkorn is to take up the position of CEO, and
Pötsch that of CFO at the luxury carmaker.

SKODA UK

Skoda has a new head of marketing:
Chris Newitt. He replaces Mary Newcombe, who has taken on the role
of head of learning services at Volkswagen UK. Newitt joins from
Volkswagen Passenger Cars, where he was head of retail
operations

IMI

Sarah Sillars is to change job
title at the IMI, moving from being the institute’s CEO to its
executive chair, following a shake-up of its structure.

LOWELL GROUP

Debt purchasing company Lowell
Group has appointed Caroline Cooper as customer relations manager
and ‘customer champion’, in charge of its TCF strategy. She
previously worked for Royal Bank of Scotland Group.

KEYWORTH BUSINESS
SOLUTIONS

Julie Haywood has been appointed
commercial director at industry software and consultancy house
KeyWorth Automotive.

THINK

Electric carmaker THINK has
appointed Jan Brentebråten as director of sales, service and
marketing; his career history includes roles at Mazda and Ford.
Helge Nerland, meanwhile, is the manufacturer’s new CFO, having
been most recently senior corporate advisor at Fondsfinans ASA
where he oversaw renewable energy projects.

VOLKSWAGEN

Michael O’Shea is to succeed
Matthew Bowden as fleet sales manager (UK) for Volkswagen. He takes
up the position from his current role as product marketing manager
for small cars at the OEM.

CLOSE CREDIT
MANAGEMENT

Close Credit Management has
appointed Vicky Oakes as head of collections. Oakes’ previous role
was head of collections at Engage Debt Solutions. She has also
worked in the collections departments of Agilisys and Intrum
Justicia.
