Global vendor finance specialist DLL is set to acquire a 51% stake in Iveco Group’s GATE business, forming a joint venture in a effort to accelerate the uptake of low- and zero-emission commercial vehicles across Europe.

Subject to regulatory approval, the deal will see DLL take a majority interest in GATE – currently a wholly owned Iveco subsidiary – via a reserved capital increase. Iveco Group will retain a 49% stake.

The new ownership structure will strengthen GATE’s financial position and asset financing capability, enabling the company to expand its rental offering more quickly across Europe. GATE’s model provides access to electric and low-emission commercial vehicles through flexible rental solutions, supported by a digital platform and partnerships with service providers.

GATE launched in Italy in 2023 and extended operations to France and Germany earlier this year. Under the joint venture, the company plans to expand into additional European markets where DLL and Iveco already operate. Over time, it may also offer solutions for brands beyond Iveco.

DLL CEO Lara Yocarini said the deal aligned with DLL’s wider energy transition strategy, which focuses on financing sustainable and “future-proof” assets. “Partnering with Iveco Group, a pioneer in more sustainable transport, perfectly fits into our strategy,” she said, adding that the joint venture would allow the two companies to deliver full-service solutions together.

Simone Olivati, president of financial services at Iveco Group, said the agreement marked a “significant new chapter” for GATE. He described DLL as a partner that shared Iveco’s commitment to innovation and the energy transition, and said the collaboration would “support the energy transition for our customers”.
