The move is the latest in a spate of manufacturer finance deals available on city cars and superminis announced as brands enter the fourth quarter of 2012.

These include the extension of Suzuki’s VAT-free PCP deal on the Swift and Splash, a range of 0% deals on Chevrolet models including the Spark and Aveo, three-year PCP with 7.9% APR from Volkswagen on the Up! and Polo, and PCP with 4.9% APR from Ford on several cars including the Ka and Fiesta.

The segment is gathering attention in the industry with Mark Norman of CAP telling delegates of the FLA used car seminar in the summer that the supermini would soon be seen as the next family car.

It was also the only segment aside from 4x4s to see a quarterly rise in used sales figures, according to the latest Experian report, which also acknowledges it as the largest segment in the second-hand market.
