• Mazda claims to be winning
fleet business because of its ‘fleet vehicle sold order pot’
programme, which key dealers use to supply new company cars within
10-14 days of orders being placed. Mazda fleet and remarketing
director Peter Allibon said: “Many fleets and company car drivers
are not prepared to wait for new company cars.”

• Some fleets are continuing
to extend replacement cycles, with a few now running company cars
and vans into a fifth year and more than 150,000 miles. The trend
is being tracked by technology company Epyx through its 1link
network.

• UK car fleets have awarded
Alphabet the highest marks for customer satisfaction for the second
successive year. The car leasing and fleet management company won
the over-500 fleet size category of the annual 2010 Fleeteye CSI
survey. Fleet company ING Car Lease topped the 250-500 fleet size
category. The awards recognise leasing firms that have achieved the
highest customer satisfaction scores over the year based on the
results of a monthly, independent survey conducted with fleet
operators.

• Building and facilities
management group Europa Support Services has appointed contract
hire and fleet management specialist Fleet Alliance to manage its
350-strong car and commercial vehicle fleet. This follows an open
market selection process.

• The British Vehicle Rental
and Leasing Association (BVRLA) has joined the Fair Fuel UK
campaign, which is calling for the government to scrap April’s
planned fuel duty rise and introduce a mechanism to stabilise fuel
prices.

• The Leasedrive Velo Group
has retained the business to supply contract hire and fleet
management services to Ceridian, the UK’s leading provider of HR
and payroll services. The sole-supply contract covers a fleet of
around 100 contract hire vehicles and 120 cash-for-car
drivers.

• Operational leasing company
Arval has appointed Windsor Fleet, one of Ireland’s largest fleet
management companies, as a partner in Ireland. Windsor Fleet’s
existing and potential new customers will now have access to
Arval’s global presence, providing an international fleet facility
for Irish companies.

• Furniture Village has
boosted the green credentials of its 54-vehicle nationwide home
delivery fleet, with the introduction of 13 new
environmentally-friendly trucks supplied on contact hire from
Ryder.

• Northumberland County
Council, in conjunction with salary sacrifice specialist Tusker,
has introduced a salary sacrifice car scheme for up to 6,000 staff
to give them a wider choice of benefits and to reduce their carbon
footprint.

• European fleet management specialist Fleet Logistics
achieved record results in January, adding 10,000 new vehicles to
its managed fleet following an array of new contract signings in a
variety of industry sectors and countries. The company, which now
manages a fleet of in excess of 80,000 vehicles across Europe,
signed new contracts in Germany, France, Belgium, the UK, Sweden
and Finland.
