Working in conjunction with an established
contract hire provider, professional services firm Deloitte has
announced an innovative new company car scheme for its staff, which
it said is unique in the UK.
Prompted by the new rules on company cars in
force from 1 April which progressively increase tax levels on
higher-polluting cars, the salary sacrifice scheme uses the firm’s
own business car accounting software to show employees the
financial impact of opting for different models, via a dedicated
intranet site.

All models included in the scheme have
emissions of 120g/km of CO2 or under, making them “very
tax-efficient”, said Dan Rees, business car consultant at the
firm.

The scheme is open to all Deloitte
staff – some 12,000 in all – and “not just directors”, said Rees,
which is, he noted, what differentiates the scheme from other
employers’ offerings to staff.

It has been a hit with staff, with
over a third of Deloitte’s employees registering interest in the
scheme’s first two weeks.

The scheme’s launch has been
“cost-neutral” to Deloitte, he added, and is also open to those who
are already entitled to a company car as part of their overall
benefits package.

The scheme’s administration is carried
out in-house, with support services – breakdown, puncture repair
and so on – provided by Deloitte’s fleet partner.

“This offers our staff affordable,
hassle-free motoring for the lowest possible price,” Rees said.
