Online used car sales platform Cazoo has made several senior appointments across marketing, product, technology, data and finance.

Lucas Bergmans has been appointed as brand director, joining from Aviva where he held the role of head of brand. Prior to that Bergmans held various marketing roles on brands such as MoneySuperMarket, Pepsi, Heineken and Old El Paso. At Cazoo, Bergmans will be responsible for brand strategy, advertising and content and will report to chief customer officer Darren Bentley.

Ercan Kamil has been named as digital marketing director, joining from MoneySuperMarket where he worked as head of digital. Prior to that, Kamil worked for PHD Media, which is part of the Omnicom media group. Kamil will be responsible for the digital marketing department at Cazoo.

John Meehan joins Cazoo as head of data analytics, and will be responsible for leading the data science and optimisation programmes. Before joining Cazoo, Meehan has held roles at Metaswitch Networks, Ernst & Young and most recently at Graze, where he served as head of data, responsible for data engineering and analysis across the business.

Katherine Hurst has been appointed to the role of customer experience director. Hurst joins from Paddy Power Betfair, where she was CRM director responsible for the customer communications globally. At Cazoo, Hurst will be responsible for CRM, customer operations and experience.

Dan Read has been appointed as head of finance, responsible for the company’s treasury, reporting and forecasting activities and managing the day to day finance operations and will report to chief financial officer Alex Gersh. Prior to joining Cazoo, Read worked for five years at PwC before joining Zoopla as finance director.

Louis Badcock joins Cazoo as product director from Simply Business where he was director of product and UX and overseeing a team of 35. Prior to that Badcock led digital product teams at Tesco, John Lewis and online jewellery retailer Astley Clarke. Badcock will be responsible for delivering a seamless online customer experience.

Ian Kershaw joins Cazoo as engineering director from Photobox Group where he was engineering director and led the turnaround of data engineering for the group. Prior to that Kershaw worked in software engineering for MTV and lastminute.com. Kershaw will be responsible for the delivery of all product engineering and will report to chief technology officer Jonathan Howell.

The company is prepping ahead of its launch later this year, with the new appointments following more than £30m investment last year and a partnership with BCA in June.

As part of the agreement, BCA will store and refurbish cars purchased by Cazoo at various BCA locations around the UK. Cazoo will also benefit from BCA’s part exchange disposal services via the firm’s Consumer Appraisal and DealerPro products.
