Sales of used cars through the RAC Dealer Network have risen 10% by volume in 2017 so far.

The network consists of 1,100 dealers, with varying levels of links with the RAC, ranging from warranty products to comprehensive used car propositions.

Sean Kent, director, corporate and independent dealers, said: “The used car market has had a generally strong start to the year but, even allowing for this, the performance across the network has been impressive.”

The RAC works with two levels of independent dealer to supply product ranges, RAC dealers who supply a minimum three months of warranty and 12 months breakdown cover, and RAC approved dealers taking part in the RAC BuySure initiative.

The RAC BuySure scheme requires dealers to commit to vehicle inspections, data checks, and three months RAC warranty cover for used car buyers, while the RAC provides 12 months breakdown cover and enrolment to RAC Accident Care.

Kent added: “Our proposition is based on offering used vehicles of the quality available, backed by a very strong support package and underlined by the credibility of the RAC brand.
