Vehicle auctioneers British Car Auctions (BCA) has released its latest data on used 4×4 sales for Q4 2012, which show that average prices rose by almost £2,000 compared to Q3.

December recorded the highest value of the year, with average prices at £14,816, up by £2,260 compared to November, although October values were also strong, at £13,023.

Tim Naylor, editor of the BCA’s Pulse Report, repeated his assessment from October of the relationship between the weather and four-wheel drive values.

"There is a well charted trend between falling temperatures and rising values for 4x4s," said Naylor. "We would expect to see that continue in the early part of this year, especially with temperatures returning to seasonal norms."
