£67m worth of uninsured vehicles were prevented from potential scrapping in 2015 by HPI Crushwatch.
This figure was 20% above the £56m recorded in 2014, which HPI said suggests the number of cars on finance being driven illegally on UK roads was on the rise.

589 Vauxhall Astra’s were recovered in the year, more than any other model. These were worth a combined £2,324,035. Ford Focus’s were the second most commonly recovered vehicle in 2015, at 462, with the Vauxhall Corsa coming in third, at 349.
Vauxhall and Ford were the top two marques most commonly recovered in 2015, with 1404 Vauxhall and 1221 Fords. BMW came a distant third at 869.
The most expensive vehicle recovered in 2015 was a Lamborghini Aventador, which was valued at £240,000. A second Aventador, worth £208,800, was the second most valuable car recovered. Overall five of the top ten most expensive vehicles recovered were Lamborghini’s while three were Ferrari’s.
