Volvo Cars is to introduce plug-in hybrids across its entire range, alongside a new range of electrified smaller cars.
Electrified is the term used for cars which feature electric, or hybrid options, as well as traditional methods of propulsion.

In the medium term, the Swedish company said it expected 10% of its car sales to be electrified in the medium term.
The first stage of the plan will involve the introduction of plug-in hybrid versions of its 90 series and 60 series cars.
The newly electrified cars will form the ’40’ series, which will be based on newly-developed Compact Modular Architecture (CMA), which was designed from the outset for electrification.
Volvo also said it planned to build an all-electric car for sale by 2019.

By GlobalDataHåkan Samuelsson, president and chief executive officer of Volvo Cars, said: "We believe that the time has come for electrified cars to cease being a niche technology and enter the mainstream. We are confident that in two years’ time, 10 per cent of Volvo’s global sales will be electrified cars."
