Suzuki has recalled all Suzuki Celerio models sold in the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, after the model failed an emergency braking test performed by Autocar.

This occurred during a full test procedure carried out by What Car? and Auto Car, and the fault happened during an emergency brake test from very high speeds on a private road test facility.

Customers who have purchased the vehicle via Suzuki’s dealer network will be provided with a loan vehicle until full safety checks have been completed.

The Celerio went on sale on the 1st of February 2015, and Suzuki said it has suspended selling the car until the issue is resolved in a statement.

According to the BBC, it is thought there were just 100 vehicles on UK roads, and 40 in Ireland, due to the model launching so recently.

In March 2014, Black Horse extended an agreement to provide finance for Suzuki GB vehicles for three years.

A Suzuki Financial Services spokesperson said: "For those customers who have bought the Celerio using funding from Suzuki Financial Services we would like to reassure them that their finance agreements will be suspended whilst further safety tests are undertaken. No customer will be out of pocket due to this recall and should any customer have any queries regarding their order or recent purchase of the Celerio they should contact their Suzuki dealer."

Only right hand vehicles are affected by the recall.
