The Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP), in collaboration with the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA), has unveiled a new online salary sacrifice course tailored for fleet managers and leasing company staff.
This initiative reflects a broader strategy by the two organizations to strengthen their partnership, with additional joint training programs planned for the future.

Experience unmatched clarity with a single platform that combines unique data, AI, and human expertise.
The course, designed to equip professionals with the knowledge to implement or select compliant salary sacrifice schemes, includes guidance on assessing employee eligibility, selecting suitable vehicles, and navigating critical considerations such as national minimum wage compliance, risk protection options, parental leave, motor insurance, and employee engagement.
Delivered by Jon Burdekin, an expert with three decades of experience in the UK leasing and fleet finance industry, the programme leverages his insights from managing fleets for high-profile companies such as McDonald’s, Shell, Oracle, and the BBC.
Ronnie Gillman, AFP Training Manager, highlighted the growing interest in salary sacrifice schemes driven by the current benefit-in-kind incentives for electric vehicles. “This course provides high-quality guidance to help fleet managers and leasing professionals make informed decisions,” she said.
Mark Pow, Head of Learning and Development at the BVRLA, emphasized the synergy between the two organizations’ memberships. “Our members manage the majority of salary sacrifice programs in the UK. Offering this course to AFP members is a natural fit, and our collaboration will continue to grow, with initiatives like AFP’s Women’s Voices in Fleet course soon being offered to BVRLA members,” he added.
