Manheim has acquired Scottish auction house Shotts Motor Auctions as it expands its business in Scotland.
The family-owned firm Schotts was bought for an undisclosed sum and gives remarketer Manheim an increased presence in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Established in 1989, Shotts operated from a two lane, 10 acre auction house between Edinburgh and Glasgow which could accommodate up to 250 cars.
In addition to acquiring the site and business as a part of the deal, Manheim will take on the management team and has appointed Shotts managing director Ian Irvine as regional director for Manheim Scotland.
In his new role, Irvine will be responsible for business development and service delivery across the existing Shotts site and Manheim’s other site in Glasgow.
Michael Buxton, chief operating officer of Manheim UK, said: "We have for some months been exploring ways we can better serve our vendor and buyer customers north of the border. We’re absolutely delighted to have acquired Shotts, which will significantly build our total offering in Scotland.
