CAP Automotive has launched an online tool for consumers to research long-term costs associated with car ownership.
The Total Cost of Motoring tool is free to use and will provide a comparison of the long-term running costs of cars. Results will only be provided to those who register their details, which may be passed-on to motor retailers as leads.

Research conducted on-behalf of CAP, whose latest survey found that used car sales are at a two-year high, found motorists want information from a single source to assist car purchasing choices.
Ben Maguire, CAP head of consumer, said: "We believe that providing better ownership cost information to consumers will assist in smoothing the car sales process by helping motorists feel more confident about the best car choices to investigate with their dealer.
"Ultimately our aim is to help elevate the quality of the discussion between good dealers and motorists so that sales are increased for dealers and satisfaction is higher for motorists."
The need for greater consumer access to information has also been highlighted by British Car Auctions, which recently published a guide for those who may wish to buy their next car at auction.
