The website, the first of its kind in the public sector, will
reduce costs and save time, and will support last year’s
pan-government collaborative framework agreement (see MF Sep 07).
The site’s format is similar to private sector price comparison
websites, providing live price information from suppliers. The
system will reduce paperwork and administration burdens, replacing
the previous system of requesting written quotations, and offer
potential savings of approximately 2-3 per cent for participating
public sector organisations.

Janette Cowburn, transport category manager of NHS PASA said:
“Where time is in short supply, this new technology is a real
winner for suppliers and users alike.”

The Office of Government Commerce (OGC), which backs the agreement
said: “NHS PASA has been working in conjunction with the OGC as a
sponsor of a collaborative programme that aims to offer substantial
financial discounts and process savings to all government
organisations, and this tool will help deliver further benefits for
users of the collaborative leasing deal.”

The pan-government collaborative framework agreement provides a
list of nine approved fleet suppliers to participating public
sector bodies. Fleet tenders for public sector bodies are put out
to all nine suppliers, which can then opt to bid for the public
body’s business, with contract management handled by NHS PASA.
