Contract hire will be offered to businesses running small fleets
via an agreement with Network, the broker franchise unit of fleet
management and leasing company LeasePlan.

Customers can access the business leasing offering via a
dedicated section on Motorpoint’s website, which went live on
January 25.

Under the terms of the agreement, Motorpoint has access to the
full range of vehicles supplied to Network’s parent LeasePlan, both
cars and light commercial vehicles.

However, said public relations manager Tony Delaney, what
sets Motorpoint apart as a provider of fleet leasing services is
that it has access to Motorpoint’s own stock of new and nearly-new
vehicles.
“If a customer needing a 25-vehicle fleet does not require
all the models to be the same colour, for example, we could well
offer the vehicles from stock, which allows the deep discounting
Motorpoint offers its retail customers to be passed on to leasing
customers,” Delaney said.

Maintenance for cars supplied through the franchise
agreement with Network will be arranged via the LeasePlan
subsidiary for the cars supplied through it, while Motorpoint will
make separate arrangements for vehicles which come from its own
stock supplies.

Motorpoint’s operations director Paul Winfield, who is leading
the supermarket’s entry into the business vehicle leasing sector,
said that Motorpoint’s offering would potentially appeal for fleets
ranging in size from one vehicle up to around 25 units.

He added: “This is a carefully considered development
which we believe not only allows us to welcome a whole new customer
group but also to combine our own buying skills with access to the
full range of UK cars and commercial vehicles.”
