Vauxhall was the fastest growing manufacturer in the personal leasing market in H1 2019, with enquiries up 60% year-on-year.
This is according to Leasing.com’s league tables, which showed continued popularity for the brand’s Astra and Corsa models. However Vauxhall’s affordable SUVs generated the most enquiries on the site. The Grandland X was Vauxhall’s most enquired model, followed by the Mokka X.

Leasing.com noted that Vauxhall has never been a major player in the personal leasing space, but now finds itself in the top 10 manufacturers based on enquiries – above Ford and Kia.
The recent success, according to Leasing.com, can be attributed to several factors – from its successful marketing as a British brand during the ongoing Brexit saga, to its focus on offering value to consumers.
“Offering affordable family cars is what Vauxhall has always been about, and it appears to be taking a stronger foothold in the leasing market,” said Paul Harrison, head of strategic partnerships at Leasing.com.
Elsewhere, enquiries for Citroen models grew by 17% year-on-year while the Tesla Model 3 made it into the top 10 enquiries for June. The new Range Rover Evoque was the second-most popular vehicle, representing the only brand in the top six that is not Mercedes-Benz.
Earlier this year, Leasing.com, previously contracthireandleasing.com, relaunched its brand. Motor Finance spoke with Paul Harrison about the effects of market forces on leasing, the ascendency of PCH, and how digitisation and leasing relate to the traditional dealership.
Harrison said: “Looking at the new mobility changes, leasing actually forms part of many of those new schemes that have emerged. For example, the subscription services that a number of motor manufacturers have launched are actually underpinned by leasing agreement.
“What is different about those services is that the lease is often over a much shorter period of time. Other add-on products such as insurance, maintenance or unlimited mileage, are also incorporated into a single subscription cost, which is obviously hugely convenient for consumers.”
