Motor Businesses’ insolvency down 19 per cent Research by Experian, the global information solutions company, has found that failures amongst motor traders fell by 18.8 per cent for the third quarter of 2007, compared to the same period of the year before These figures come from a review of 34 industries in the UK, which also identified that the number of businesses going bust this year dropped by an overall 27.2 per cent the fourth biggest improvement compared to other business sectors

£4.5m sale-and-leaseback win for lessor
The lessor has signed a £4.5m sale-and-leaseback agreement covering the fleet of Hewden Tools, a tool hire company which was acquired by Speedy Hire in August. Speedy Hire is currently a Lex fleet customer, and the sale-and-leaseback will see Lex gradually move the 740 cars and vans owned by Hewden Tools over to the terms on which the motor lessor operates Speedy Hires fleet

FSA probe into PPI finds ‘serious failures’
Although two of the five areas investigated by the FSA – namely ensuring customers know that PPI is optional, and offering cancellation refunds on single premium PPI policies – have shown welcome improvement, the other three areas under the magnifying glass – the availability of clear product and cost information, informing customers of their eligibility for PPI cover, and advising them of how PPI meets their needs – have shown little or no improvement, the FSA said.
