Europe witnessed a 0.6% rise in IT hiring activity in the banking and payments industry in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
August 2021 has seen a decrease of 0.15% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 17.72% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2021, registering an increase of 0.37% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 57.54% in August 2021, a 3.8% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 16.19% in August 2021, marking a 2.44% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 12.51% in August 2021, a 12.65% drop from July 2021.
Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 8.23% in August 2021, a 9.73% decline over the previous month.
Top five banking and payments companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 2.04% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s banking and payments industry during August 2021 over previous month.
Banco Santander posted 723 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered an increase of 60.31% over the previous month, followed by KBC Group with 499 jobs and a 53.92% drop. Citigroup with 367 IT jobs and SIX Group with 288 jobs, recorded a 146.31% rise and a 22.03% rise, respectively, while JPMorgan Chase recorded a 0.52% decline with 190 job postings during August 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s banking and payments industry
The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s banking and payments industry IT hiring activity with a 27.12% share in August 2021, a 3.91% increase over July 2021. Poland featured next with an 18.13% share, up 6.81% over the previous month. Spain recorded an 8.6% share, a growth of 163.91% compared with July 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 71.86%, down by 8.06% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 16.13% share, registered a growth of 14.97% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.71% share, down 14.72% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 2.29%, recording a month-on-month growth of 52.56%.
