two-and-a-half year secondment to an operational role, Robert Gale
has returned to a sales role as northern sales director for
Santander Consumer Finance.
After 23 years working in sales for Lombard, First National and
then Santander, Gale was appointed head of GE Money Auto in Leeds
when Santander Consumer Finance acquired it in January 2009.
He was asked to run the integration of the GE book and business
into Santander, a process which has now been completed.
During this time, Robert also completed his Institute of Director’s
examinations.
Gale said: “The opportunity to run the operation and the
integration project has been tremendous and has given me a much
wider perspective on the business.
“I relish the chance to bring my new experiences and learning to
the sales role.”

 

ALPHABET

Martyn Gallop has moved from the
position of operations director at Fleet Logistics to become head
of fleet management at multi-marque fleet business Alphabet.
Gallop’s appointment follows last month’s announcement of a new
senior management team structure at Alphabet.
The company is now operationally independent in the UK, while
remaining part of BMW Group Financial Services.

LEASEDRIVE

The Leasedrive Group, the UK’s largest independent
privately-owned vehicle management company, has appointed Paul
Fleming to the newly created position of sales and marketing
director.
Fleming also joins the company’s executive board, alongside
managing director David Bird, commercial director Roddy Graham and
financial director Robert Whitrow.
Fleming joins from Alternatech Fuel Systems, where he was chief
executive officer.

 

FORD OF BRITAIN

Mark Ovenden has been appointed managing director of Ford
of Britain, effective from 15 August. He will replace Nigel Sharp,
who is retiring after 39 years with the company. Ovenden, currently
managing director and president of Ford Russia, returns to Britain
after three years at the head of the manufacturer’s fastest growing
European market.
Meanwhile, Ford Retail has announced the departure of CEO Chris
Hayden, who set up and led the UK organisation for more than 10
years.
Hayden leaves to join US-based dealer group, Group 1 Automotive as
market director for California.
Ford expects to announce the appointment of the new CEO within the
next few months. In this interim period Angus Brown, Ford Retail
Parts operations director, will be the acting CEO.

 

LEASEPLAN UK

Fleet management company LeasePlan UK has appointed Tim
Meadows as brand director of its public sector leasing brand,
Automotive Leasing.
Meadows has worked for LeasePlan for seven years, most recently as
its southern regional director. He takes over from Stuart Walker,
who was recently appointed to the new role of strategic marketing
and ancillary services director.
