Law firm Shoosmiths has created a
new national team to work for asset-based lenders (ABLs), merging
its existing asset finance and invoice finance teams to create a
single team serving ABL clients.
Part of Shoosmiths’ lender services group, the new team will cover
asset finance, invoice finance and factoring, ABLs in respect of
their retail and corporate customers, and all assets, from motor
and equipment to big-ticket. Key contacts are partners Melanie
Chell, based in Northampton; Manchester-based Harold Brako; and
Chris McClure, from Southampton. Head of collections Kevin Parker
is based in Northampton. Parker, who leads a 26-strong collections
team, recently rolled out Shoosmiths’ portfolio management product
to a wider audience after it proved successful with major
clients.

DWF
Business law firm DWF has opened
a Birmingham office and appointed Joanne Davis as a new partner to
lead and develop the asset finance and regulatory practice there.
She will also join the lender services team, which offers services
to the banking and finance markets.
Davis has 18 years’ experience in the financial sector and joins
DWF from Shoosmiths, where she was head of asset
finance.

LEGAL
Specialist law firm Optima Legal has
appointed Emma Stirk as associate solicitor in its asset finance
team. Stirk joins Optima Legal from an in-house role at Yorkshire
Building Society, where she dealt with a range of matters involving
discrimination, financial mis-selling and breach of fiduciary duty,
commercial contracts, financial crime and debt recovery.
