Colour was the third most important factor for consumers when choosing a car, behind just price and fuel economy, according to research from online car purchasing platform, Carwow.
This meant most customers ranked it above insurance grouping, safety, which rounded out the top five.

Performance, brand, size, quality and engine size were ranked six through tenth, in that order.
James Hind, chief executive officer at Carwow, noted that colour barely gets a mention in traditional car reviews, despite its importance.
He added that the company was surprised to see performance, brand and design not higher on the list.
