Nissan Motors GB has implemented structural changes and a series of new appointments in its corporate sales division.

Nissan saw a record year for fleet sales in the UK, with 74,768 passenger cars and 10,398 vans for business registered in 2015, reaching a market share of 5.68%, its highest to date. The brand will launch the NV300 commercial vehicle later this year.

Darren Payne was hired in May to take up the newly-created role of UK sales director, responsible for overseeing both commercial and retail sales. Payne joined from Renault UK, where he held the position of sales director.

Payne said: “Nissan’s presence in the fleet sector has grown significantly in recent years and we intend to remain on this upward trajectory.”

Robert Tweedle has been appointed fleet sales director, and will report to Payne, overseeing day-to-day fleet sales operations. Tweedle joined Nissan in 2010 as electric vehicle category manager, after a career as a dealer.

Mark Wheeler has been moved from fleet sales director to the new role of director of light commercial vehicles (LCV) and customer relationships.

Nissan also created a new mid-sized fleet team to be managed by Adam Connelly, formerly contract hire manager at SEAT.

The team will be based across the UK’s regions, and will offer advice and support to customers operating between 50 and 200 vehicles.

Payne added: “The key appointments we have made will ensure we have the right people in place to achieve all of our reputational targets and growth aspirations going forward,”
