The UK’s biggest car supermarket group Motorpoint is to launch a
leasing business – which, it modestly claims, will “revolutionise
the contract hire market in the UK”.
It is to offer contract hire exclusively to SMEs, with the
leased cars to be no older than 12 months, or with more than 15,000
miles on the clock.

Agreements will typically be on a two-year, 10,000-mile basis,
Motorpoint said. Maintenance packages will also be available.
Public relations manager at Motorpoint, Stephen Wright said:
“Although some people turn their nose up at nearly new, the
sensible owner manager recognises the great value and the money
they are saving on their existing deal” – particularly helpful for
companies feeling the effects of a recession, he added.
Around 200 deals a month are being handled, Motorpoint said.
Cars listed on the website – http://www.motorpointleasing.co.uk/
– are all available for immediate pickup from any of the
supermarket’s five sites, which could be a major selling point for
the service if it means clients can avoid the longer lead-times on
offer from other lessors.
