New car registrations for fleet
reached 600,000 during the first half of 2010, up by 14.8% on last
year. However, new car registrations in general dropped by 13.2%
during July, compared to July 2009.

Paul Everitt, chief executive of the
Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, which published the
figures, said: “A stronger than expected first half means full-year
volumes are still forecast to exceed 2009’s total.”
