Hertz has taken a step into the car club
arena by launching its own scheme, Connect by Hertz, as continued
growth is predicted for the sector.
The pay-as-you-go car club model (see MF Feb 08) may become more
attractive to cash-poor people who want to reduce their spending on
transportation by opting for a “usership not ownership” model.
Existing car clubs have around 60,000 members across the UK.
