Mazda Motors UK is offering all customers
taking up any of its current offers an additional £500 if they
agree to scrap their old car.

The manufacturer has teamed up with car
recycling company Cartakeback, which decontaminates the vehicles
and recycles as much of them as possible, sending less than 20% of
the original weight to landfill at the end of the process.

Mazda UK sales director Peter Allibon said; “Each new Mazda
model over the next decade will deliver class-leading fuel
consumption and significantly lower CO2 emissions. We
feel it is important to help customers take their old cars off the
road.”

Under the 2003 End of Life Vehicles Directive,
all manufacturers in the EU are obliged to take back and dispose of
their branded vehicles, free of charge. Since 1 January 2006, 80%
of a vehicle to be scrapped must be reused or recycled, rising to
85% in 2015.
