Vehicle information provider HPI and professional services firm Towers Watson have come together to create a set of vehicle data products aimed at supporting gender neutral risk assessments.

These products will give insurers information about customers’ motoring history and the type of car they drive and will deliver predictive scores to insurers to help them accurately evaluate risk and comply with the incoming Gender Directive.

The Directive, brought about by the judgement of the European Court of Justice, will remove the ability of insurers to use gender as a factor in pricing and benefits as of 21 December 2012.

Darren Greenyer, director of finance and insurance at HPI, said: "Gender-based assessments are now a thing of the past, so insurers need to act quickly to partner third parties to get that competitive edge and continue to develop fair and profitable insurance decisions."
