The December figures from HPI CrushWatch, in
conjunction with the Finance
and Leasing Association / Association of Chief Police Officers
Vehicle Recovery Scheme, show a slight return to October’s
numbers following a busier November.
Total enquiries were down 2.9% to 4,943 for
the month while total ‘hits’ (those enquiries that did reveal
outstanding finance on a vehicle) remained all-but steady at
464.

Of enquiries, 9.39% were hits, the highest
proportion since September (9.85%) and 0.2 points up on November’s
figure.
The £2.72m total value of finance hits in
December is a drop of 10.1% from November but still the highest
total recovery value since July (£2.99m).
Of that total, Strathclyde Police Force
recovered £276,060, the most recovered by any constabulary during a
month where three other forces – West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester
and Cheshire – each recovered in excess of £200,000.
Including Lancashire, the top five forces
recovered vehicles worth £1.17m, or 42.93% of the total value.
Ford and Vauxhall continued to trade places
for the marque with most recoveries, with 76 Fords and 69 Vauxhalls
recovered this month, though the 39 BMWs recovered were worth a
total of £407,920, the most of any brand.
