ChargePlace Scotland has partnered with Octopus Energy’s Electroverse platform to simplify electric vehicle (EV) charging across Scotland. This collaboration will allow EV drivers to use Octopus’s “one card, one app” system, which eliminates the need for multiple apps when accessing public charging points.

The Electroverse platform, which has seen rapid growth, nearly tripling its user base in the past year, now provides access to ChargePlace Scotland’s 2,900 chargers. These chargers are distributed across Scotland, from the scenic highlands to bustling urban centres. The platform’s features, including a map, route planner, and in-car support through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, are designed to make road trips more convenient for EV drivers.

Scotland has been at the forefront of the EV revolution, with the highest concentration of EV chargers per 100,000 people outside Greater London. This partnership enables drivers to access the majority of chargers across the country with just one tap, further solidifying Scotland’s leadership in EV infrastructure.

ChargePlace Scotland, funded by the Scottish Government, has played a pivotal role in expanding EV infrastructure, growing almost 50-fold in under a decade. Through a partnership with Evolt Charging, powered by SWARCO Smart Charging, the deal also connects more than 800 Evolt chargers across the UK to the Electroverse network.

This integration brings ChargePlace Scotland into the Electroverse ecosystem, which now offers access to over 950 charge point brands across more than 40 countries, with over 800,000 chargers available throughout Europe.

Matt Davies, Director of Octopus Electroverse, expressed his excitement about the partnership, saying: “We’re thrilled to bring ChargePlace Scotland on board, supercharging our mission to simplify public electric car charging. Drivers can now seamlessly access thousands of Scottish chargers at just one tap.”
