The KTP is the latest in a series of research-based projects set up by the university and DWF since the launch of DWF Ventures, the firms’ independent R&D company, in 2017.

Ian Miles, academic lead for the KTP at Alliance Manchester Business School, said: “This project will be simultaneously be exploring the technical and organisational elements of establishing new types of support for a particular set of activities within a legal  services firm.

“The results will be relevant to other activities of that firm, and also to legal and professional services more generally, as emerging Artificial Intelligence applications, and evolving demands from clients, continue to foster digital and cultural change.”

Jonathan Patterson, managing director at DWF Ventures, said: “The legal sector has undergone significant change in recent years and, for legal businesses that foster a culture of innovation and experimentation, there are a huge number of opportunities to take advantage of.
