Thomas Sedran has been named as the president and managing director of Chevrolet Europe, effective 1 July, in one of a number of corporate moves within General Motors Europe’s (GME) various brands.

Sedran had been a member of the Executive Board responsible for Operations, Business Development and Corporate Strategy at Opel since 1 April 2012, following six years at management consultants AlixPartners. The move follows that of Alan Batey, the former Vauxhall apprentice who was announced as senior vice president of Global Chevrolet earlier this week.

Mark Adams, currently executive director of Global Cadillac and Buick Design and GME vice president, will move to Germany and assume the position of GME vice president of design and act as ‘champion’ for the companies’ brand strategies and design language. Before he took on his role at Cadillac and Buick in August 2012, Adams had previously served as GME vice president, design, from June 2007.

Karl-Thomas Neumann, Opel chief executive officer, said the reorganisation "will provide an increased emphasis on joint strategies across Opel/Vauxhall and Buick."
