Law firm Gowling WLG has promoted partner Greg Standing to head of enterprise risk management.

In the new role he will be responsible for identifying and managing risk in the firm as it becomes an ever more complex and international business.

Standing has been a regular contributor to Motor Finance and sister title Leasing Life. Recently this has included articles on guarantor loans, early arrears management and the FCAs attempts to help consumer credit firms in assessing the adequacy of financial crime systems and controls.

Standing said: “My brief is to manage risk – operational, strategic, regulatory, financial and so on.  The work I have done for clients in the financial services regulatory sector will prove to be invaluable and a lot of the methodology and requirements of the FCA handbook can be applied to our business.  We will be rolling out the risk management programme across all our international offices once implemented in the UK.  It's an exciting opportunity for me."
