Former chief executive of Arcadia and M&S, Stuart Rose, has been appointed chairman of car lessor Zenith.
Rose started his career as management trainee at Marks & Spencer, and went on to spend 17 years in the company.

He subsequently acted as chief executive officer of a number of companies. He led food wholesaler Booker in the late ’90s, and then worked at the Burton Group until their demerger into Arcadia and Debenhams.
Later roles included a brief stint at Argos in 2008, during the takeover attempt by Great Universal Stores, and a return to M&S between 2004 and 2010, where he introduced the “Plan A” framework for the company’s corporate responsibility.
Since 2013 he has acted as chairman for food delivery company Ocado. He was knighted in 2008 and joined the House of Lords in 2014, as a Conservative.
Commenting on the new role, Rose said: “I am impressed by Zenith’s growth story: the UK fleet services market is a large, growing and resilient market so we will all have even more to go for. I very much look forward to working with the team.”

Zenith, founded in 1989 and based in Leeds, offers leasing, outsourcing and fleet management services to medium and large corporate clients.
