Shoppers are increasingly utilising loyalty cards and
saving-club points, according to an online survey by Creation,
trading brand of car finance provider LaSer UK.
The survey revealed nearly 25% of
consumers who responded are redeeming points accumulated
on loyalty cards, with 29% of consumers increasing their loyalty
card usage in the last six months.

Of those surveyed, 90% used at least two
loyalty cards, and 96% used a loyalty card once a month.
Previously, it was conventional for consumers
to save the usage of points for larger purchases yet 42% of those
surveyed use their points for daily savings.
Stephen Hunt, chief executive of LaSer UK,
commented that loyalty reward schemes have become a legitimate
source of added value for shoppers with consumers increasingly
looking to earn, collect and use points as they are “more aware of
the value they can get from loyalty programmes.”
Hunt said “this rewards culture may have been
driven by the age of austerity, but it will not end with economic
recovery. Once people start expecting offers they carry on
expecting offers and it has become a habit engrained in consumer
behaviour.”
