MotorNovo Finance has appointed Peter Landers as Group Head of Strategy, which the independent lender said reinforced the business’ ambition to enter new financial markets.

Up until recently, Landers was head of consumer & vehicle finance in the Financial Services Corporate Finance part of Grant Thornton UK, a position he had held for over three years. He first joined the firm in 2012, as associate head of consumer finance, advisory.

In these roles, he was actively involved in M&A activity with a host of consumer, automotive and asset finance acquisitions and disposals, as well as providing consulting services to a number of clients on market entry, growth and diversification.

Mark Standish, MotoNovo Group chief executive officer, said: “Having known and worked with Peter for many years, it is an absolute pleasure to have him on board at what is an exciting time for us. Our parent, FirstRand Bank, has been highly supportive of our expansion plans and Peter’s appointment is central to helping us to both bring identified new businesses to market and in pinpointing that next disruptive opportunity to support the financing needs of both businesses and consumers.”

According to the lender, it is looking to introduce new product initiatives into areas including asset and retail finance, some Landers found exciting.

He said: “We have a blank canvas to work with. There are no legacy issues and plenty of energy. As I’ve seen many times in my career this freedom is a powerful force and it is a compelling opportunity that I’m thrilled to be part of. Nothing is off the table, in terms of our development strategy and I am delighted to be part of a team with such a positive approach to growth”.
