Online car retailer Motoring.co.uk reports the number of motorists planning to use a franchised dealership for their next vehicle servicing has risen 5% over the last six months.

Out of 1,500 consumers questioned by the consumer motor enquiry website, 50% said they would favour franchised dealer aftersales over a local, independent dealer-garage or workshop, compared with 45% at the end of 2012.

Chris Green, sales director of Motoring.co.uk said: "This trend we are seeing in the growth of Motoring.co.uk consumers looking to use franchised dealers for servicing, is down to the rich manufacturer and franchised dealer focused content, with which we engage our motoring community, through a multi-channel approach."

He added: "Over the last few months we have been running highly successful aftersales campaigns for Seat, Volvo and Vauxhall and VW with more coming on board later in the year. This has involved targeting the exact type of consumer, with the right age and make of car, helping with retention and loyalty which is needed by manufacturers and dealers in such a tough climate."
