There were 1.7m UK online searches for motor insurance on Google in July, according to digital marketing agency, Greenlight.
This accounted for approximately 53% of the 3.2m insurance searches for insurance generally on the site, the highest number of total searches for 2013.

Greenlight also found moneysupermarket.com was the most visible website for insurance overall, with 84% and 70% share of the organic and paid listings, respectively, however comparethemarket.com was the most visible in social media.
As well as motor insurance, customers have also been increasingly turning to the web to research used car purchases, as noted by many, most recently MotoNovo Finance.
