The 2015 Renault Zoe (electric automatic) has been crowned the fastest selling used car of 2019, according to Auto Trader’s fastest selling index.
The 2017 variant of the ZOE also top the second spot on the list, while the 2016 version was fourth. December also marks the second consecutive month the ZOE topped the national top 10 of fastest selling used cars. If priced to the market, it has the current potential to sell in an average of 21 days.

The index live tracks the speed at which vehicles sell, combined with a 1-100 AT retail rating determined by live supply and demand. The latest data shows a shift away from used SUV desirability. Just 20% of this year’s list was SUV models, compared with 80% in 2018.
In 2018 the Vauxhall Mokka was named the fastest, whilst the Kia Sportage took the top spot in both 2016 and 2017.
This year’s annual list also shows a strong preference for automatic transmissions, with eight of the top 10 fastest selling used cars featuring this transmission type.
On the Auto Trader marketplace the ZOE actually sits at the bottom of the top 10 most searched for electric vehicles: data for November revealed that the Volkswagen e-Golf was the most searched for electric car, followed by the BMW i3 and Nissan Leaf.

Over the last few years we’ve seen some important milestones for used EVs.
“In January 2017 a BMW i3 marked the first time one had made it onto the national top 10 and in July last year, a ZOE was the first to actually top the list. With three taking the number one spot in 2019 and a ZOE crowned the year’s overall fastest selling is hugely significant and a clear sign of things to come as we move towards more sustainable forms of transportation.”
