General Motors (GM) has appointed Duncan Aldred, currently managing director of Vauxhall Motors and chief executive of Opel Ireland, as US vice-president of sales for Buick-GMC based at the firm’s Detroit headquarters.
Aldred has been managing director of Vauxhall since January 2010 and was also appointed chairman in December 2011. In addition, he was acting vice-president of sales, marketing and aftersales for the Opel and Vauxhalls brands from January 2013.

Since joining Vauxhall in 1990, Aldred has held various with GM including director of sales, marketing and aftersales for GM South East Europe and sales director of GM Europe.
Aldred will be responsible for sales, service and marketing for the Buick and GMC brands in the US and will report to Steve Hill, vice president of US sales and service for GM.
