Graham Wheeler, formerly joint head of Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS), is to join Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) as global director, financial services, Motor Finance has learned.
Wheeler is best known in the industry for his time at VWFS UK, where he worked for over 20 years. This included over ten years as managing director.
He is also a joint trustee on the board of the automotive charity, BEN, alongside Jeremy Hicks, managing director of Jaguar Land Rover UK.
In April, it was revealed Wheeler would be leaving VWFS ‘to pursue another opportunity within the automotive finance industry’ when VWFS announced his replacement, David Maloney.
Whereas VWFS operates one of the largest captives in the UK, JLR currently favours the use of white label agreements to provide its finance. In the UK, Black Horse provides JLR with its finance capability.
JLR has had a good first half of 2016. As well as the Wheeler appointment, Jaguar sales grew 68% year-on-year in H1, while Land Rover sales were up 17.7% compared to the same period 2015.
