hire firm ALD
Automotive has
signed a three-year tyre management contract with Kwik-Fit Fleet, developing a
four-year partnership between the 47,000-strong fleet operator and
the maintenance provider, which has 670 centres and 200 mobile
units.
The contract will offer 24/7 service to ALD customers through
Kwik-Fit’s Fleet Service Centre, plus tyre safety checks as part of
ALD Automotive’s DriveSafe suite of risk management
initiatives.

Recent government pressure for greater enforcement of road
safety legislation has made such risk strategies essential: fines
for illegal tyres are £2,500 and three licence points per
unit.
Nigel Fletcher, ALD Automotive deputy managing director,
underlined the importance of “minimum vehicle downtime” while
pursuing a thorough risk strategy, a view supported by Kwik-Fit
Fleet head Mike
Wise, who proclaimed “a fundamental focus on helping companies to
manage road risk while ensuring budgets remain in check.”
Under the new deal, data on tread depths and mileages of tyres
removed, brands and size of tyres fitted and reasons for
replacement will all stored by Kwik-Fit, allowing ALD to review
tyre maintenance history electronically.
