There were 150,060 cars manufactured in the UK in October 2014, 6.7% less that the amount built in October 2013, according to figures released by the Society of Motoring Manufactures (SMMT).
The drop came entirely from cars built for export, which saw a 10.8% year-on-year drop in the month to 116,165 cars.

The number of cars built for domestic use actually increased in October, up 10.6% to 33,895 cars. As a result, 77.4% of cars built were made for export, compared to 81.0% in October 2013.
As a result of October’s numbers, year-to-date figures were down 0.3% on the same period 2013, at 1,282,077 vehicles. Of these, 22% were made for domestic use, compared to 21.1% in the same period 2013.
