The Finance & Leasing Association’s vehicle recovery scheme, run in conjunction with HPI CrushWatch, recovered £30,221,987 worth of vehicles otherwise due to be crushed in the first half of 2013.
A total of 44 UK police forces now use HPI Crushwatch, including the Metropolitan Police, who accounted for £14,995,625 worth, or nearly half, of vehicles recovered in H1 2013. West Yorkshire police recovered £1,399,480 in the period, the second highest amount, followed by the Strathclyde force, at £1,392,710.

A total of 714 Vauxhalls were recovered from January to June, the most of any marquee, followed by 702 Fords. Third place was taken by Volkswagen at 395 vehicles recovered, with fourth and fifth place taken by BMW and Mercedes-Benz, at 305 and 208 respectively.
The most expensive vehicle recovered was a Ferrari FFV12, worth £177,000, followed by a £160, 000 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, both of which were recovered by the Met in May.
June 2013 saw £5.67m worth of vehicles recovered, the highest monthly amount in the history of the scheme, with May seeing £5.34m worth of vehicles recovered, the second highest amount so far in 2013, and the third highest in the scheme’s history.
