Despite UK car sales falling by 10.2 percent,
European car sales were up 1.4 percent in February – and up 0.2
percent year-to-date – according to data released by Jato today.
France recorded 204,400 new car registrations in February, the
highest since Jato records began more than 30 years ago.

Volkswagen’s Golf remains Europe’s
best-selling car, with Renault’s Clio in second place, helped by
buoyancy from cars ordered before the ending of France’s scrappage
scheme in December. With the majority of European markets
increasing sales during the month, total European sales increased
for the first time since March last year.
