The AA has announced a strategic partnership with Zapmap, a UK public charging app, to provide members with access to charge point data through the AA App. The company confirmed the move in a press release, describing it as part of its broader support for drivers moving to electric vehicles.
The integration will allow AA members to locate charging points, check real-time availability and plan routes. Zapmap currently maps more than 85,000 charge points across the UK, including information on location, type, cost and availability.

Nick Edwards, AA Chief Digital Officer, said that “many drivers already use The AA App to find petrol and compare prices,” and added that linking with Zapmap means EV drivers can now “track and locate the widest range of charge points in the UK.”
Richard Bourne, Zapmap Chief Executive, noted that the partnership would give AA customers visibility of “all types of chargers from high-powered en‑route chargers, to destination chargers … to near home charging for those who do not have access to off‑street charging.”
The AA stated that only 1.85 per cent of EV breakdowns are due to running out of charge, but acknowledged that confidence in charging infrastructure remains a concern for drivers. The organisation highlighted its EV roadside fix rate of 88 per cent and the training of more patrols to work on electric vehicles.
The AA App already provides services such as pump price comparison, parking information and breakdown reporting. The company said the addition of Zapmap data is the first step in a wider collaboration aimed at supporting the UK’s transition to electric mobility.
