BEN, the automotive industry charity, has handed over the administrative management of nearly 400 automotive companies’ Payroll Giving schemes to the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF).

Payroll Giving allows anyone paying UK income tax to give regularly and on a tax free basis to the charity or charities of their choice.
The CAF will now be in charge of administrative services as well as the processing and collection operation.

According to BEN, this agreement will allow the charity to focus on maximising the value of the donations for the benefit of motor industry professionals. Previously, the charity was running the service at no cost to companies and donors, bringing in a ‘significant’ overheard.

Jools Tait, business development director at BEN, said: "Payroll Giving is a very important source of income for BEN. With new business strategies being put in place, we will cease to be a Payroll Giving Agency (PGA) later this year so that we can invest more into developing and growing our vital support services which benefit those in the automotive industry."

CAF is currently processing donations for over 3,200 companies, from more than 300,000 individuals every month, worth approximately £70m per annum.
