Fleet managing and car leasing company ALD Automotive has confirmed changes to its board of directors, following the announcement that UK managing director Mel Dawson would be leaving his role.

Philippe Heim has been appointed as director, while Karine Destre-Bohn, Patricia Lacoste and Michael Masterson have had their directorships renewed.

The company also announced the ratifications of the co-optation of Bernardo Sanchez-Incera and Laura Carrere as directors.

Tim Laver, ALD UK’s director of finance and risk, will take the role of managing director on 1 July, replacing Mel Dawson.

Group chief executive, Mike Masterson, said: ““I’d like to thank Mel for the massive contribution he has made to ALD over two decades. His leadership has been key to what the UK business has achieved, not only in terms of growth and innovation, but in building a very positive customer focused culture across the business.”

Laver added: “As a colleague and friend he’ll be missed by all and we wish him every success in the future. Looking ahead over the next 18 months, in what is a rapidly changing mobility landscape, we have some very exciting plans in store and I’m really looking forward to tackling the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.”

Last year, ALD partnered with US startup Vinli to tap into the startup’s cloud technology and marketplace for connected car services. It is the latest partnership with a tech company for the fleet provider, which has been looking to accrue its connected service capabilities as data takes central stage in fleet managers’ business model.

The startup originally offered aftermarket connectivity products to consumers, but has since repositioned itself as a vendor for partners including Cox Automotive and Samsung.
