New car registrations in the EU were 2.9% higher in October 2015 then they were in the same month in 2014, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).
In total 1,104,868 cars were registered across the EU in October, bringing the year to date figure to 11,523,903 – up 8.2% year-on-year.

Growth was generally slower than in earlier months in 2015. Neither Spain nor Italy reached double digit growth, at 5.2% and 8.6% year-on-year growth respectively.
Germany and France both only showed slow growth of 1.1% and 1.0% year-on-year, while UK registrations actually shrunk in the month, for the first time in over a year.
One bright note was the Dutch market, where car sales reach 39,006, up 11.1% on the number sold in October 2014.

By GlobalDataEach of the top three manufacturing groups (Volkswagen, PSA and Renault) shrank in October 2015, compared to 2014, while Ford sales managed to hit 77,272, up 1.7% year-on-year.
Volkswagen’s German competitors saw the biggest gains out of the top ten manufacturers. BMW Group sales were up 13.4% year-on-year to 76,774, while Daimler sales grew 21% year-on-year to 68,096.
